Week 1: Getting Acquainted

Objectives

 

By the end of this week you will have:

 

  • learned about the program,content and evaluation systemof this course;
  • become acquainted with the sites and tools to be used;
  • joined the course Moodle.
  • created your own wiki;
  • become aware of your strengths and weaknesses in the language;
  • set objetives to improve your weaknesses in English; and
  • writen and recorded an introduction about you and your expectations for this course.

 

 

Monday

 

Activities

  1. Greetings
  2. Listen to the explanations about the course and look at the pages where this information is located (use the SideBar on the right of the page to navigate this wiki)
  3. Join our course Moodle Make sure to write down your username and password. Your teacher will give you the registration key. You will only need it the first time you log in.
  4. Complete your profile in Moodle. Write about: yourself and your expectations for this course
  5. Proof-read your paragraph
  6. Use Springdoo to record your message
      • Create an account in Sprindoo if you don't have it
      • Send yourself a copy of your recording
      • Post the link of your recording to the wiki created in Moodle:My expectations: recordings

 

For homework: create a wiki in Wikispaces, and send your teacher an invitation (dygonza@yahoo.com)

Activites

 

  1. Decorate your wiki front page: Title, your name, a short description of your wiki, an image. Also, add a link to this wiki and to the Moodle.
  2. Visit 2 of your classmates' wikis and leave a message.
  3. Think about your strengths and weaknesses in English. Go to Moodle, and open a journal at About My English, and write your reflections.
  4. Do the exercises on this page
  5. Write, in Spanish, 10 words you would like to learn in English about Architecture. Create a page in your wiki for those words.

 

 

 

Create your own MyChingo account, and embed it in your wiki in a page that you will name Contact me. You will use this application to record some of your assignments, and I will leave you voice messages there
